Yes, you've maybe seen this. I first shared it on 5.23.24. It contains an important warning for those of you who may be considering reheating a boiled egg. 🥚

(This is good.) A SOFT-BOILED EGG (big egg) / 1. Boil some water (pan of boiling water on stove) / 2. Poke a hole in one end of the egg (egg, pushpin). This keeps the shell from cracking as it boils <— Might be a superstition

3. Lower the egg into the water gently (carolyn slotted spooning the egg into the boiling water) / 4. Set a timer for 7 1/2 minutes. Keep it at a simmer (egg in simmering water) / 5. After ~3 min., put bread in the toaster (toaster with bread)

6. When the timer goes off, take out the egg & run under cold water (egg in slotted spoon under faucet) / egg with top cut off, in cute egg cup, salt and pepper shakers, toast cut into triangles) 7. Admire the frivolous single-purposeness of the egg cup, slice off the top of the egg, salt & pepper, and eat with toast.

One time I put a leftover soft-boiled egg in the microwave. / I had a vague memory that microwaving eggs was not ideal. But I thought I'd give it a try. (cold egg: ick.) / (egg and veg on plate in microwave) / I had peeled it already. It was on a plate with some rice and veg. / -beep-

Carolyn briefly disassemble in flash of yolky orange/yellow, fork in air, dog in liftoff / Reader, it exploded. There was egg on the floor, ceiling, and all four walls. A fine yellow yolk dust coated my whole front, including my glasses. / (carolyn looking yolky) My ears rang for the rest of the day.

(dog licking the floor) The dog was my only witness. She cleaned the floor.
