I got into kind of a Japanese-learning trance on Duolingo / (carolyn lying on couch under fuzzy blanket looking at phone. orange cat curled on back of couch.) carolyn: kore ... wa... watashino ... boushi ... BOUshi ... desu

I slept in the basement with the dog. (carolyn from above, lying on back in the dark. Dog beside her. Also cough drops, crumpled kleenex, glass of water. )

After a while I felt well enough to work — slowly, lying down. (Carolyn hunkered behind laptop while lying on green couch, orange cat lying on his back on back of couch. In background, green leaves and sky. Beside couch, kleenex box, stack of books/notebooks, bowl and spoon.)

All week squirrels were doing extreme acrobatics to get at the big red berries on the yew tree. (Out the window, squirrel hanging from a branch by back feet, reaching for a red berry. branch springing up — sproing! — behind squirrel)

I took Paxlovid, and it made my mouth taste bad. Only chewy ginger candies helped. (drawing of hallowed box of ginger candies)

Most things tasted weird. (drawings of freezer dumplings, apple slices, weird csa carrots, the ginger candy, cherry tomatoes, PB toast, cherry pie, and crackers)

When I went indoors to grab a snack or lunch, I wore a mask. (carolyn standing by stove, looking sleepy, wearing mask and PJs. Water boiling on the stove, box of mac n cheese on counter.)

I watched almost all of the videos on an Instagram page called @chefreactions (Phone with split-screen. On one side, somebody measuring with a cup. On the other side, guy with a beard saying: No. That is not a half cup. No.) Carolyn: haha

Anders cooked in the evenings and handed me my dinner very carefully (Anders handing carolyn dinner with extremely long arms) anders: Enjoy! carolyn: Thank you!

Sometimes Anders and Iris sat waaaaay on the other side of the porch to visit with me. (Split drawing of two sides of porch. Carolyn: Nice to see you.)
